FDA Poisonous Plant Database

The decommissioned Poisonous Plant Database provided access to references in the scientific literature (primarily print literature through about 2007) describing studies and reports of the toxic properties and effects of plants and plant parts. All information in the decommissioned Poisonous Plant Database was and remains in the public domain.

Plants considered or referred to as “poisonous” may have certain attributes, such as naturally occurring toxins or mycotoxins in their tissues. For more information about naturally occurring toxins or mycotoxins, including resources for regulators, please click the link below.

For information or concerns about the toxicity of plants, contact the local Poison Control Center in your area. A directory of these is available from The American Association of Poison Control Centers.

For information for pets and toxic plants, see ASPCA Poisonous Plants.
