Division of Compliance

The Division of Compliance is committed to preventing violations and enforcing the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act and related laws through guidance, education and regulatory actions. It is comprised of five teams- Complaint/Emergency/Recall; Post-Market Compliance; Drug Residue Compliance; Pre-Market Compliance and Administrative Actions; and Programs and Operation(s) Support.

Complaints, Emergencies and Recall Team (CERT) (HFV-231) is responsible for items related to complaints, emergency response (emergency planning and practice), Vet-LIRN (investigative), and recalls.

Human and Animal Food Investigations Team (HFV-232) is responsible for items related to animal food adulterants, sampling, investigation and response, pathogens in pet food, drug residue response, persistent organic pollutants (POP), animal food imports, diversion and reconditioning.

Animal Drug Program Team (HFV-233) is responsible for items related to CGMP surveillance, drug imports, export certificates, system recognition, inventory and CP maintenance (work planning), outreach and education.

Pre-Market Administrative Actions Team (HFV-234) provides expertise regarding Bioresearch Monitoring (BIMO) inspections, investigational research issues, pre-market animal drug and device inquiries, administrative hearings, and export certificates.

Animal Drug Investigation Team (HFV-235) is responsible for items related to unapproved drugs, compounded animal drugs, internet marketing, and risk ranking. 

Animal Food Program Team (HFV-236) is responsible for items related to the Animal Food Compliance Programs, including Preventive Controls for Animal Food, Medicated Feed Manufacturing, Veterinary Feed Directive, BSE, Sanitary Transportation, and Foreign Supplier Verification Program. The Team works on FDA works on FDA work planning, the animal food inventory, training and education, and State partnerships and contracts including the Animal Regulatory Programs Standards.
