Footnote: Electronic case reporting (eCR) is the automated, real-time exchange of case report information between electronic health records and public health agencies. In partnership with the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) and the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE), CDC is rapidly onboarding healthcare facilities to eCR during the COVID-19 pandemic. As of July 23, 2021, more than 9,200 facilities are actively sending COVID-19 electronic initial case reports to public health using eCR. Reports that meet the reporting criteria for multiple jurisdictions are sent to each jurisdiction at the same time.
