CMS COVID-19 Data Products
On January 31, 2020, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary declared a public health emergency for the United States to aid the nation’s healthcare community in responding to an outbreak of respiratory disease caused by a coronavirus named “Coronavirus Disease 2019” (abbreviated “COVID-19”). On March 13, 2020, a national emergency concerning COVID-19 was declared.
CMS is committed to data transparency to highlight the impacts of COVID-19 and advance public health policies. Please use the navigation bar to the left to access the following COVID-19 data products:
- Preliminary Medicare COVID-19 Snapshot: This data snapshot reports COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations data for Medicare beneficiaries diagnosed with COVID-19.
- Medicare COVID-19 Hospitalization Trend Report: Supplemental report that highlights trends in Medicare COVID-19 hospitalizations cut by month and various demographic characteristics.
- Medicare COVID-19 Vaccine Analysis: Presents COVID-19 vaccine administration and payment data. Includes important information assessing the completeness of Medicare claims data for measuring COVID-19 vaccine administration.
- Medicare COVID-19 Nursing Home Analysis: Reports information on the impact of COVID-19 on Medicare beneficiaries in nursing homes.
- Medicare COVID-19 Nursing Home Data: Information on COVID-19 reported by nursing homes to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN).
- Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey (MCBS) COVID-19 PUFs: Supplemental public use files containing survey data collected from Medicare beneficiaries on their experiences with the COVID-19 pandemic.
- MCBS Summer 2020 COVID-19 Data Snapshot: Infographic that presents information on Medicare beneficiaries’ experiences with the COVID-19 pandemic that was collected from June 10, 2020 through July 15, 2020.
- MCBS Fall 2020 COVID-19 Data Snapshot: Infographic that presents information on Medicare beneficiaries’ experiences with the COVID-19 pandemic that was collected from October 5, 2020 through November 15, 2020.
- MCBS COVID-19 Winter 2021 Data Snapshot: Infographic that presents information on Medicare beneficiaries’ experiences with the COVID-19 pandemic that was collected from March 1, 2021 to April 25, 2021.
