Commissioned Corps

The U.S. Public Health Service, Commissioned Corps, as one of the seven recognized unformed services, is an elite cadre of more than 6,000 well-trained and highly qualified public health professionals dedicated to protecting, promoting, and advancing the health and safety of our Nation. Driven by a passion for public service, these officers are committed to improving the health outcomes of underserved and vulnerable populations, responding to public health threats, whether natural or man-made, disease prevention, and advancing public health science. As an essential component of the largest public health program in the world, the Commissioned Corps fills essential public health leadership and health care service delivery roles within the Nation's Federal Government agencies and programs. The Corps is comprised of the following health care, scientific, and public health professionals:
