FDA's Emergency Operations Network Incident Management System

The FDA Emergency Operations Network Incident Management System (EON IMS) captures incidents regarding FDA regulated products that are, or may be responsible for causing injury, illness or adverse events. When an emergency response to an incident is required, the system also captures the large volume of information the response may generate, in "near real-time," including early investigational activities and analytical findings. The system also generates Geographic Information System (GIS) maps related to emergency response activities and creates an historical record of response related information. The EON IMS serves as a data mart for emergency preparedness and response literature, i.e. FDA, Departmental and government emergency response plans. As a knowledge management tool, EON IMS provides timely awareness of public health issues involving FDA regulated products to key agency officials through alerts/notifications.
