Chad Hamel

I wanted to be a veterinarian since the age of five. I have always had a strong love for animals along with a strong desire to dedicate my life to helping them. I have to say that being a veterinarian has lived up to all my expectations. I could not imagine a better job than waking up every morning to help animals and the people who love them and depend on them.

I actually love being a veterinarian so much that I wrote a children’s book and had it published. It is called I Want to be a Veterinarian When I Grow Up.

2. What made you want to work for CVM?

CVM was a perfect opportunity to mesh my love of veterinary medicine, agriculture, and public service into one job. I find my job at CVM to be an enormous gift and I wake up every day excited to go to work.

3. What is the best thing about being a veterinarian for CVM?

CVM provides an opportunity to use the skills that I have learned through my experiences in veterinary medicine and animal production to best serve the public. The opportunity to make a difference in the lives of millions of animals and people makes this job very fulfilling and very exciting.

4. What does the veterinary profession mean to you?

I love the veterinary profession. I have a passion for education and the role that veterinarians play in their communities and their positive impact on so many aspects of science and public health. I consider being a veterinarian an honor and a privilege.

5. What is your most memorable moment as a veterinarian?

My most memorable moment as a veterinarian was the day that I graduated vet school and fulfilled my childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian. That moment has led to thousands of other memorable moments.
