1. Why did you become a veterinarian?

Because I wanted to work in a medical field and because of my admiration for various animals.

2. What made you want to work for CVM?

Before joining CVM, I worked at a pharmaceutical company on the discovery of a new potential drug. Although we were making good progress, the project was closed by a management decision, sending many researchers to work on other projects and leading to disappointments of many people, not to mention that a therapeutic void still remains. Working at CVM enables me to always be in touch with the newest developments in animal pharmacotherapy and have insight into a variety of issues.

3. What is the best thing about being a veterinarian for CVM?

Always having something new to work on, being able to apply my expertise, and having an impact on the availability of approved drugs for animals.

4. What does the veterinary profession mean to you?

The ability to help animals and their people, thus maintaining the inter-species bond.

5. What is your most memorable moment as a veterinarian?

Generally, getting results in my veterinary medical research, for example, the moment when I realized that I generated my first transgenic mouse. As a young veterinarian, there was an occasion when I was working hard to help a sick cow at a family farm, but nothing seemed to have worked. The next day I ran into the farm owner in town, who congratulated me for a job well done, pleased that the cow’s health had improved.
