Environmental Impact Evaluation Process

A flow chart of the environmental review process for a proposed action. If a proposed action cannot be categorically excluded because there are extraordinary circumstances or unacceptable risk, an environmental assessment is needed. If there are acceptable risks or if risk mitigations can be implemented, a finding of no significant impact can be prepared. If there are still unacceptable risks, an environmental impact statement and record of decision will be necessary.
