The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is announcing plans for a jointly sponsored public meeting to obtain public input on possible approaches for collecting additional on-farm antimicrobial drug use and resistance data. Such data are important for assessing the impact of measures being implemented to foster the judicious use of medically important antimicrobial drugs in food-producing animals.

How do I register for the public meeting?

To register for the public meeting, please send your name, title, organization, address, and telephone number by email to [email protected]. Registration is free.

If you need special accommodation because of a disability, please email her by September 23, 2015.

If I want to give an oral presentation at the public meeting, what do I do?

To give an oral presentation during the public meeting, you need to register (see above) and also submit a brief statement of the general nature of information you wish to present by September 23, 2015.

Because of the number of people registered to give oral presentations, we have increased the time allotted for public comment and have extended the cut-off date for registration for oral presentations.

How do I get to the Jefferson Auditorium?

Attendees should enter the building via Wing 5 on the Independence Avenue side of the building. The South Building is accessible by the Smithsonian Metro station (exit Metro station through the “Independence Avenue Exit” and walk toward 15th Street on Independence Avenue to reach Wing 5).

When should I arrive?

Registration begins at 8am, so we suggest you arrive by 7:30am to allow time to go through security. In order to enter the building, you will need to show security a valid government issued photo ID (Driver’s License, Identification Card, or Passport).

Where can I go to get something to eat?

The USDA Headquarter has a cafeteria in the south building, just down the hall from the Jefferson Auditorium. The cafeteria offers a variety of food & drink options. For more information on what is available and for cafeteria hours, click HERE.

Please note that if you leave the building for any reason, you will need to go back through security before returning to the Jefferson Auditorium.

How do I submit comments if I am unable to attend the public meeting?

Regardless of attendance at the public meeting, interested persons are encouraged to submit either electronic comments to http://www.regulations.gov or written comments to the Division of Dockets Management (HFA-305), Food and Drug Administration, 5630 Fishers Lane, rm. 1061, Rockville, MD 20852 by November 30, 2015. To submit your comments electronically to the docket, go to http://www.regulations.gov and type FDA-2015-N-2768 in the search box. If you are submitting comments by mail, be sure to include docket number FDA-2015-N-2768 on each page of your written comments.
