Science Review of Isolated and Synthetic Non-Digestible Carbohydrates

We are providing a summary of our review of the scientific evidence that we identified for certain isolated or synthetic non-digestible carbohydrates that are not listed as a dietary fiber in 21 CFR 101.9(c)(6)(i). Our review has relied on the draft guidance for industry “Scientific Evaluation of the Evidence on the Beneficial Physiological Effects of Isolated or Synthetic Non-digestible Carbohydrates Submitted as a Citizen Petition (21 CFR 10.30)” to identify those studies from which scientific conclusions could be drawn about a physiological effect that is beneficial to human health.
