Multicriteria-based Ranking Model for Risk Management of Animal Drug Residues in Milk and Milk Products

The FDA is announcing the availability of a risk assessment that provides a science-based analytical approach to collate and incorporate relevant available data and information into a multicriteria-based ranking model to assist with evaluating milk testing programs. In other words, the agency considered a variety of scientific factors when reviewing the animal drugs used in dairy cows.

The FDA is seeking public comment on this risk assessment. The agency is particularly interested in comments on: the ranking model approach, including the specific criteria, scoring, and weighting scheme; the assumptions and scientific data used to inform how the animal drugs were scored in the model; the selection of animal drugs evaluated; and the clarity and the transparency of the risk assessment.
