Public Oral Hearing Overview
FDA will hold a public oral hearing on April 12, 2023, to provide stakeholders with an opportunity to share their comments on the proposed rule: “Requirements for Tobacco Product Manufacturing Practice.”
FDA is proposing new requirements for tobacco product manufacturers regarding the manufacture, design, packing, and storage of their products. These proposed requirements would help protect public health by, among other things, minimizing or preventing contamination and limiting additional risks by ensuring product consistency. The public oral hearing will allow FDA to gather additional comments on the proposed rule from stakeholders, including industry, the scientific community, advocacy groups, and the public.
Registration
FDA will hold the hearing on April 12, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET via an online teleconferencing platform, which will be accessible by computer or phone. It will be live and free of charge, but prior registration is required. All requests to provide public comment at this hearing must be received by March 31, 2023. Participants who prefer to listen only to the hearing can register until the day of the event. Register here to provide comment during the hearing.
FDA aims to make this hearing a transparent and inclusive opportunity to hear a range of ideas and perspectives from all interested parties. Groups and organizations should select a single spokesperson to help FDA hear as many different perspectives as possible. No presentation materials or slides may be used during the hearing.
Live closed captioning and ASL interpreters will be provided for interested participants. If you have issues registering or have questions, please email CTPOutreach@fda.hhs.gov or call 1-877-CTP-1373 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. ET.
