2023 Recalls of Food Products Associated with Cantaloupes due to the Potential Risk of Salmonella

The FDA, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), U.S. state and local partners, in collaboration with Canada, are investigating an outbreak of Salmonella Sundsvall infections linked to whole cantaloupes. Whole Genome Sequencing analysis shows that clinical isolates from the ill people in Canada, are genetically related to the ill people in the United States. FDA’s traceback investigation is ongoing but has identified Sofia Produce, LLC dba TruFresh of Nogales, AZ; Crown Jewels Produce of Fresno, CA; and Pacific Trellis Fruit dba Dulcinea of Fresno, CA as suppliers of the potentially contaminated “Malichita” or “Rudy” brand cantaloupes.
 
On 11/9/2023, 11/16/2023 and 11/22/2023, Sofia Produce, LLC dba TruFresh issued company announcements. On 11/22/2023, Crown Jewels Produce issued a company announcement. On 11/24/2023, Pacific Trellis Fruit dba Dulcinea issued a company announcement.
