Celebrate National Minority Health Month April 2021

April is National Minority Health Month (NMHM)! The FDA’s Office of Minority Health and Health Equity (OMHHE) highlights important issues impacting diverse communities year-round, but National Minority Health Month gives us the opportunity to amplify those efforts.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Office of Minority Health (OMH) has selected Vaccine Ready as this year’s NMHM theme. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a disproportionate impact on racial and ethnic minority, American Indian and Alaska Native, and other diverse communities, and it is important to raise awareness about the need for these communities to get vaccinated.

We encourage everyone to take time this month to learn about the COVID-19 vaccine resources that are available from FDA and our partner agencies in HHS. On this webpage, you will find educational materials such as videos on vaccine safety and diversity, podcast episodes, webinar recordings, and a special message from RADM Richardae Araojo, the FDA Associate Commissioner for Minority Health and Director of OMHHE. You can also visit our website and the HHS OMH website for additional information.
