FDA Releases Progress Report on the U.S. FDA and Mexico Produce Safety Partnership

Constituent Update

June 15, 2018

Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a progress report on the U.S. FDA – Mexico Produce Safety Partnership. The report shows how this collaboration is enhancing the safety of produce.

This report, U.S. FDA – Mexico Produce Safety Partnership: A Dynamic Partnership in Action , is being released in coordination with two Mexican food safety authorities, the National Service for Agroalimentary Public Health, Safety, and Quality (SENASICA) and the Federal Commission for the Protection from Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS).

In July 2014 the FDA, SENASICA, and COFEPRIS signed a Statement of Intent for Cooperation on the Produce Safety Partnership (PSP). The U.S. – Mexico Produce Safety Partnership is a product of our shared cross-border commitment and common interest in working together to reinforce preventive practices to help ensure the safety of produce.

This report demonstrates the progress that has been made over the last four years, as well as outlining goals and next steps.
