Publications in this category report a significant external outreach or collaborative activity, particularly those that are linked to FDA-sponsored workshops or external events. They can also include reports on external scientific or standards meetings where emerging scientific information important to the FDA mission is discussed by a collaborative community.  Nominations must have an FDA staff member as the first or last author on the manuscript which must have been accepted or published in a reputable, peer reviewed journal in the last fiscal year.

FDA gives 20 awards to both individuals and groups. All FDA scientists who have demonstrated exemplary performance in their assigned scientific duties are eligible. The individual or group is nominated for a completed body of work that was initiated and completed while the nominee was employed by FDA.
