Maren McBride

Maren McBride is the Director of Congressional Appropriations. In this role, Ms. McBride leads the Office of Congressional Appropriations which is responsible for all aspects of the FDA’s appropriations work, including the work with Congress to secure the FDA’s $5.8 billion annual budget. Ms. McBride and her team also manage the FDA’s relationships with the members of Congress who serve on the U.S. Senate and House Appropriations Committees. Ms. McBride works with the Commissioner of Food and Drugs and FDA leadership to ensure the FDA’s funding and policy priorities are communicated to Congress. 

Prior to joining the FDA, Ms. McBride worked as a legislative director and senior legislative liaison for more than six years at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, developing a solid understanding of the entire department, its budget, and its breadth of policy issues. She also spent time on Capitol Hill, serving as counsel to a former U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee chairman and as associate director and policy advocate at a legal trade association.
