General Information about Minor Species and Minor Uses in a Major Species

There are seven major species: horses, cattle, pigs, dogs, cats, chickens, and turkeys. Minor species are all animals that are not a major species, such as sheep, guinea pigs, and fish. A minor use in a major species is the use of a drug in one of the seven major species for a condition or disease that occurs infrequently or in limited geographic areas and in only a small number of animals each year.
