Drug shortages can have serious effects on patients who may experience treatment delays, receive alternative treatments that are not as effective or well-tolerated, or forgo treatment. These outcomes can prolong patient suffering, contribute to disease progression, and result in other adverse health outcomes that reduce patient well-being and increase morbidity. Mitigating and preventing drug shortages is a priority for FDA. This webinar provided a general overview of CDER’s Drug Shortage program, current shortage issues and challenges.
