Background

Dr. Raul Trbojevich obtained master's and Ph.D. degrees from Rosario National University in Rosario, Argentina. His Ph.D. thesis was on the synthesis of nanoparticles, nanotechnology science, and the synthesis of new materials. From 1984-1986, Dr. Trbojevich was a teaching assistant, in the Department of Physics-Mathematics, at the School of Biochemical and Pharmaceutical Science, National University of Rosario, and from 1996-2001, he was an associate professor, for the Department of Physics and Chemistry, at Argentina Catholic University, Rosario. From 1998-2000, Dr. Trbojevich worked at the Research Center and Superior Studies at Argentina Catholic University, College of Chemistry and Engineering as a research associate.
Subsequently, Dr. Trbojevich was a postdoctoral fellow at the International Institute for Nanotechnology (Department of Mechanical Engineering), at Northwestern University.
Dr. Trbojevich has experience in analytical chemistry and spectroscopic techniques (UV-vis, FT-IR, X-ray diffraction, Raman, PCS, NMR, ICP-MS, HPLC, UPLC, GC, SEM, AFM and TEM).  He has also worked in pharmaceutical formulations.
Dr. Trbojevich has received the following honor and award:

  • Fellowship: Catholic College of Chemistry and Engineering, Fray Rogelio Bacon, Argentina Catholic University (1986-1992)
  • Award: Scientific and Technology Development, International Junior Chamber, Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina (1992)

Research Interests

Dr. Trbojevich is skilled in developing new analytical chemistry methods for identification and quantitation of chemical compounds in inorganic, organic, and complex biological samples. He provides strong support in high performance liquid chromatography, ultra performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, UV-visible spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and fluorescence spectroscopy. Dr. Trbojevich is experienced with other spectroscopy techniques, including ICP-MS, FT-IR, photon correlation spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.

In the area of nanotechnology, Dr. Trbojevich has expertise in the wet chemical synthesis of metals and semiconductor nanoparticles, as well as in the characterization of nanomaterials using X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscope with EDS, DLS, ICP-MS, and AFM techniques.
