The FDA Grand Rounds is an educational presentation that is webcast monthly to highlight cutting-edge research underway across the Agency and its impact on protecting and advancing public health. Each session features an FDA scientist presenting on a key public health challenge and how FDA is applying science to its regulatory activities. Dr. Omar Al-Kalaa received his Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 2016. He leads wireless technology research efforts within the Office of Science and Engineering Laboratories, Center for Devices and Radiological Health, U.S. Food and Drug Administration. His research is focused on developing regulatory science tools for evaluating the use of connectivity in medical applications.
