HIETexas

Description
The Texas Health Services Authority (THSA) was created as a public-private partnership by the Texas Legislature in 2007, and is charged with serving as a catalyst for the development of a seamless electronic health information exchange infrastructure for the state of Texas. The THSA fulfills this through the creation of HIETexas, a network of local HIEs and connections to state and federal data sources that allows a patient's health information to follow them wherever they go. HIETexas offers several services, including a record locator service, security, patient consent management (in development), in-state connectivity, and out-of-state connectivity via a gateway to the eHealth Exchange. HIETexas is a member of both Carequality and CommonWell as a voice on behalf of Texas local HIEs to see how these networks can work together to meet the needs of patients in Texas.
