Saturday, March 20 marks National Kick Butts Day. The Washington State Department of Health is offering a Washington State Quitline training tailored for healthcare providers. It is a great refresher about what the Quitline offers and a 101 on tobacco use and nicotine dependence treatment. The training is self-paced, takes under 45 minutes to complete, and attendees will receive a certificate of completion at the end. Sign up for the training at here.

Any Washingtonian can connect with the Quitline to learn about tobacco cessation services available to them, including nicotine replacement therapy. In addition to calling 1-800-QUIT-NOW, Washingtonians can now text READY to 200-400 to register for free phone-based counseling, as well as text- and web-based cessation support. This support is increasingly tailored to meet the needs of specific populations, from teens who vape to adults with serious mental illness who smoke. Healthcare providers can also refer patients at quitline.com.

For additional resources, please refer to SRHD’s cessation campaign by visiting donemyway.org and downloading the full list of available resources.

Lastly, Inland Northwest Health Services (INHS) offers a free 4-week online or in-person class called Quit for Good. Nicotine replacement therapy is available to those who do not have insurance coverage. Help individuals get connected to INHS by visiting Tobacco Cessation (INHS website).
